Status: de facto

The teryt:terc tag links OSM object to entry in TERYT database maintained by Polish government. Unique TERC codes are assigned to territorial division units[1] - boundary=administrative relations.

  • voivodeships admin_level=4
  • powiats and cities with powiat status admin_level=6
  • gminas admin_level=7
  • towns and rural areas in urban-rural gminas admin_level=8 - sometimes also added on place=city and place=town nodes despite that TERC codes are of territorial division units
  • districts and representations in urban gminas admin_level=9

This tag should appear only on object in Poland, as it is not assigned for locations in other countries.

TERYT database may be searched at http://eteryt.stat.gov.pl/eTeryt/rejestr_teryt/udostepnianie_danych/baza_teryt/uzytkownicy_indywidualni/wyszukiwanie/wyszukiwanie.aspx?contrast=default (switch to TERC tab)

It is useful as it is a stable, unique and officially assigned id used in typical database containing useful information about administrative areas in Poland.
