The Research team at Wikimedia Foundation holds office hours (see below for exact date and time), which you can join via video call.
The aim is to make ourselves more available to answer research questions that you as Wikimedia volunteers, affiliates, staff, and researchers face in your projects and initiatives, and to connect, share, and learn from each other.
Come and talk to us about anything related to Wiki-research. Bring your questions and ideas to discuss projects, data, analysis, etc. For example:
- You want to learn more about our team and our projects
- You would like to share some research project or idea and would like to get feedback or support
- You have questions about how to use specific datasets
After initiating the office hours in January 2020, we switched to monthly group video calls to facilitate more direct interaction. We paused Office Hours from July - December, 2022 to focus on new initiatives, such as the Research Fund and the development of a research course on WikiLearn. Office Hours are returning in January 2023 with a new format consisting of individual consultations (see below). We piloted this format earlier in 2022 for attendees of Wiki Workshop as well as Research Fund applicants. We will evaluate the success of this approach in mid-2023.
Schedule
We invite you to schedule individual consultation sessions with a member of the Research team. Please note that scheduling requires you to use services independent from the Wikimedia Foundation. For more information on usage policies of Google Calendar, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy. When scheduling your appointment, please provide a description of the topic or question that you wish to discuss.
