Welcome to the Wikimedia Toolserver

The Wikimedia Toolserver is a collaborative platform that provides hosting and support for various software tools written and used by Wikimedia contributors. The Toolserver is operated by Wikimedia Deutschland e. V. with assistance from the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. and supported by Wikimedia UK, Wikimedia Switzerland, Wikimedia Austria, Wikimedia Sweden.

Important notice

The toolserver was discontinued on June 30th, 2014 and has replaced by a platform called Toolforge! Why? Get your Toolforge account at toolforge.org. Please see the documentation here.

Please do not start new work here. To start a project, please do so in Toolforge.

How to clean up your projects

Mette and Nosy have provided some scripts to help you clean up after migration. Here are the steps:

  • Log in to nightshade.
  • The script "byebye" creates a tarball to download all you have on the toolserver except for the user store. Please get your user-store data separately - we don't have enough space to pack it for you.
  • The script "burnbridges" will expire your account and delete all your data except for your redirects to Tool Labs. They will stay intact after shutdown.
  • If you want to clean up an MMP, please use the script "byebye-mmp".
