Is there a convention for documenting a schematic with notes?

I want to add an explanation as to why I’ve done something a certain way (mostly for my future self) on my schematic. Yesterday when reviewing a circuit from last year, I asked myself “why the heck did I do that?!” And after changing the design to…

Strange diode symbol in schematic

Does somebody know what the parts "D1" (top left) and "D2" (bottom left) are? I would expect them to be a special kind of diode, but I have never seen this symbol before in 10+ years of electronics.

How to follow the signal when reading the schematic?

I am learning how to read schematics. Are there any guidelines or good practice on reading schematics? It's my understanding that schematics are read left-to-right and that is how one should follow the signal: from left-to-right. Is that correct and…

What does a capacitor marked "105 | 47 μF" mean?

Attached schematic for the e-Paper driver HAT. The meaning of the yellow marked part is not clear to me. Does this mean I can replace 105 (1 μF) with 4.7 μF and use either as available? The entire schematic can be found here.

What schematic symbol is this switch with an arc?

I've referenced many symbol sheets with no avail. What would JP5 'AutoON' be here? I assume it's a switch that is default on, but the symbol is foreign to me.
