Question about the metal-semiconductor junction
I'm studying the metal-semiconductor junction on Muller-Kamins book. I have two questions.
This is the band diagram of the metal-semiconductor junction in thermal equilibrium:
In order to get this plot, the book gives some rules. One of these…

A question about basic band gap theory
I always encounter assertions similar to the following quote:
The electrons in the conduction band have higher energy than those in the valence band of a semiconductor.
We know by definition the conduction band is much more further away from the…

Acceptor level definition
When looking at a P type semiconductor band diagram, the acceptor level sits a little higher than the edge of the valence band, say Boron in Silicon.
i have learned that the acceptor level represents the energy needed for an adjacent silicon valence…

The probability that an electron occupies the fermi level at 0K
I was trying to find the probability that an electron occupies the Fermi level at 0K.
Fermi function: {exp[(E-Ef)/kT] + 1}-1;
(k = 8.314 J/mol/K)
According to my calculations, the answer would be 0.5.
Is that answer correct?
