I am using two sources to power the load - USB type C and Li - ion battery.

I have used a power path management IC(LTC4421), for following scenarios

  1. When USB is not plugged in, the load will use battery power.
  2. If both USB plugged & battery connected, the load will use USB, and USB should charge the battery.

I require clarification with implementing second scenario.

During the second scenario, the battery PPM disables power from the battery so I connected output from PPM IC to the same input power lines of battery using a MOSFET which will turn on only when the battery is not powering the load. Refer image below.

Will this approach work or is there another method available to implement the above scenarios for charging a battery when not used by load.
